A long trip from the city to the location: 2,5 hours driving and 1,5 hours by boat max. My overall experience was great. The food was surprisingly good. All food courses were a buffet. Desserts are not their best. The 3 day program was pretty good in my opinion. First day was from going to the sula, to a night boat ride. Second day a visit to a nearby village and in the afternoon a jungle walk (learning some survival skills). Alberto our guide was pretty patient and friendly. Has the skills and knowledge to make a tourist have a great experience. P.s. there were no mosquitos

Professional and friendly staff. Well-maintained facilities. Excellent food. On time. Our journey started when we were picked up in a branded, air-conditioned minibus. The first part of the trip is a 1.5 hour drive to Brokopondo for a pit stop. They provide a light snack and water. We had a cheese sandwich. Then it was a 1 hour drive to Atjoni. At Atjoni we got into a korjaal for the 1 hour boat ride to Anaula. By the time we reached Anaula and got our keys, our luggage was waiting for us in our cabins. The lobby and dining area/bar are all open air, but there are plenty of fans. Cold Water, juice, coffee, hot water, and tea are inckuded and are always available. Soda, beer, and other beverages are available for purchase. You will not go hungry here and any reasonable person will not be disappointed. They make sure there is always ample food at meal times as well for snack time. Yes, you get breakfast, lunch, snack, and dinner. All are self-serve buffet-style. The only parts of the meal that are served directly are the appetizer and dessert at dinner. You are provided with the next day's activity schedule and have the option to partake or stay at the resort. Some of the activities may include: a trip to one of the local Maroon villages (ours was to Nieuw Aurora), a walk in the woods, a dusk ride on the water to look for wildlife (we saw three caimans), an interactive performance from some of the local villagers, and a trip to the sulas (the river was high, so the sulas nearby were underwater). During any downtime you might have, you can enjoy the huge, beautiful swimming pool as well as the two riverside hammock huts (hammocks are already there, ready for you). There is 24-hour electricity, cell service, and wifi. The wifi is not the best (you are on an island in the middle of the jungle 7 miles from the nearest highway after all) and the signal is strongest near the lobby. The cabins do have fans in them (A/C is not yet ready, but is in the works) and a private bathroom. Soap, shampoo, bathroom tissue, and bath towels are included. It might seem strange to mention that, but many of the other river resorts are more basic and do not include those amenities. You may want to bring towels for swimming and a power strip to charge your devices. Coffee, tea, and bottled water is in the cabins. You only need to get a thermos of hot water from the kitchen. Overall, it was an amazing experience and one that I would recommend to anyone.

This place is amazing! If I could give 6 stars, I would have! The location is stunning: all cabanas are right on the river. The food is delicious and the pools amazing: there are 3 pools! The attention to detail and staff are super. Special kudos to Kleine who was our guide. I haven’t been to any other lodges but the price quality of this place is hard to beat!!

Fantastic experience, good meals and in Alberto we had a great guide. Only negative was the air conditioning in our cabin was not working during our stay. I wasn't so enthusiastic about the swimming pool (okay for a soak but not a swim) but I swam in the River near the resort so this was not a serious issue.

We had a blast at Anaula! Miriam and Alex (tour guide) are very welcoming and helpful people, the location is extremely relaxed and the tours are well organized. We booked the 3 days and the programme was good enough to catch the whole jungle experience with plenty of time for all the activities. Food was great too! Would definitely come back again!
