::The sidewalks in the center and outside Paramaribo are terrible. Old people and disabled people cannot go for shopping and so on by foot. People are in great need because of the SRD (Suriname Dollar) going down rapidly the past year and still falling. I have seen about 5 European tourists in 3 weeks time. The supermarkets and most restaurants belong to the Chinese people and the diversity of supply is very limited. After arrival at the airport Zanderij one of the customs has stolen my smartphone out of my suitcase; so better have those things inside your handbag. Nothing positive to say? Some products are very cheap, f.i. Nikes Air for 30 Euro. Most people are nice to you if you have been nice to them first. I've noticed that most of the youth - until + - 25 - seem to live without any worries and the expression of happyness on their faces look unhappy, getting older. I've also noticed that their hardly is any positive activity, like a concert or festival; no one seems to care about organising any cultural activities; perhaps because there isn't any culture.
