  This hotel is one of the few chain hotels in Paramaribo. It is quite functional and but certainly not a polished version of the brand’s presence in the capital city (probably consistent with the overall lack of tourism in the country). Rooms are fine and there are multiple restaurant options. Staff is friendly and competent. The location is not the most ideal as it is away from the central attractions like Zeelandia, park or palace. Although the river is nearby, there is no view or easy access. There is a casino next door if that’s of interest. We enjoyed the food in 2 different restaurants and it was good. Christmas decorations were festive.

  On way back to airport the driver the hotel provided got lost and wasted one hour as a result. Shower water was not heated. Miso soup at Japanese restaurant cold. At check in nobody offered me anything for my status. Hotel is not being maintained. Felt dirty this time around. Awkward shower head setup as per photo.

  First, let me share that the staff at the hotel was incredible. Extremely accommodating and available. My room was not one of the newly renovated ones, but was comfortable (although sheets smelled mildly mildewish). Food on premises is okay as far as hotel food is concerned. Personally, I found that searching out the decent local spots revealed some pleasant surprises. Surinamese food is pretty darn good, just be careful with the hot peppers. The good spots aren’t easy to find but they are there. I found the breakfast buffet at the hotel to be disappointing - too pricey for what they offered. Waffles are just a tad bit better than what we offer in the frozen food section back in the states and the omelets were subpar. No sausage available other than “chicken” sausage which looked horrible. Pool area was nice and the Japanese restaurant offered decent sushi. BTW My only reason for not giving my room a five was the lack of a microwave oven. The cab service provided by hotel is great but can be a wee bit pricey. Casino next door was fun as well. The grounds at the Torarica hitel which is nearby are better laid out, but I can’t see the staff at Courtyard being surpassed.

  There are many other accommodations that are both more affordable and offer better facilities than this place. Upon my arrival with several large bags, the bellhop appeared to be preoccupied with his phone and failed to acknowledge me. Although the room was comfortable, there were some problems with the bathroom, such as water damage, a shower faucet that wasn't working properly, and a leak from the wall. Moreover, there were two leaks from the ceiling in the dinner/breakfast area.
